Update on My Mom

A friend of mine & I, prayed over my mom one day when she was in the ICU. Then that afternoon, my mom started moving her arms. Her hands would not move, but it was a good start. Well over the next week, she improved greatly. I believe that it was the Lord's doing, not anything else. She has now improved enough to be in a nursing home to finish her recovery. It is a Christian Nursing Home and seems very kind to the patients there, and is quite beautiful. In fact, their name is "Risen Son." Plus a friend of ours works there, so we are more confident with her being there. She plans to only stay long enough for recovery, but I believe that God opened this door for her to be able to get in to this specific place.

A Passing of a Friend

Yesterday, July 3rd, 10 years ago to the day, my dad died of cancer. Also, yesterday, on July 3rd, our family friend, died of liver failure. She had been very sick and been in the hospital for close to a month already. Our 3rd oldest daughter had been her CNA much of the time that she has been there. Our families became friends when I was about 12 years old. Their. oldest daughter was 16 at that point. She taught me how to put on makeup, do my nails, fix my hair all pretty like...then our moms met and became best friends. So, that put them with their four kids, and the three of us kids, all together a lot of the time. We had some great memories jumping into the lake from the back of a pickup truck, my first motorcycle ride, my first hickie...well you get the idea. :+) Well several years ago, we all lost touch with each other. Then recently, we all connected again. It was on sad terms, but instead of being all teary and depressed, it was almost like a family reunion, sharing memories and fun we'd had. I think it was good for her to hear all the laughter and memories, and to know that we would all be okay. I also believe that that it was God who brought us all together again for a reason. And since we are looking for a church, by finding our family friends, I think we may also have found the church that the Lord wants for us!

Family Traumas

So much to tell you, and not much time right now. My mom fell Saturday night trying to get back up out of her bed to turn on her oxygen which she needs at nights now because she has sleep apnea and emphysema. When she fell, she broke her left hip. My brother and sister were at the bar, and so my mom pressed her emergency help bracelet and the paramedics came, but couldn't get it. So they tracked my brother down, who went to the house to let them in. Around 5 AM, my brother and sister went home to get some sleep. I didn't know about it till noon on Saturday that my mom was even at the hospital. The hospital called at noon to say she was going in to surgery, and that is when my brother called here. So I went up to the hospital at 4:30 that afternoon, about the time she should be out of surgery and back in to her room. No one was there. Ashley and Zach had come with me, and then Ashley's boyfriend, Perry, came up to get Ash so they could run to Target. I stayed with my mom, and Zach went with them. It was about then that I realized that something wasn't wrong quite right with my mom, and she couldn't wake up, even though her surgery had been over nearly 3 hours before. Then her stats started dropping, she couldn't breathe. Long story short, they ended up rushing her to the ICU.

So, I went right back up there first thing this morning after my sister called saying that my mom was having trouble because she couldn't breathe right, and they ended up having to inti bate her. Then tonight, around 6:00, the neurosurgeon came in and tested her. My mom appears to have had a stroke, and possibly one on the right side, and one on the left side of her brain from two blood clots. They will do an MRI tomorrow morning to see exactly where, and how bad it is.

Plus, her best friend is in the Harlan Hospital dying from liver failure. This is a hard time for both families. Please keep us all in your prayers when you think of us.

Family and Friends

We had a wonderful time with our family (6 of our 9 kids & all 6 grandbabies), and our friends, Tammy & Dave (and 5 of 7 of their kids) over this recent Memorial weekend!! We met them at their cabin by Savory Pond for the afternoon for a cook-out, volleyball, and family fun. I am so blessed to have our family, and our friends to be close to. There are two saying that I have come to love that fits our two families very well...they are:
"You don't have 2B blood 2B family."
&
"Friends are the family you get to pick."
:+)
